Gadget Hunters Beware!

I stumbled across an article today that highlights the flaw in how a lot of us think, I know I certainly have thought this way, and one of the important “do” in the list of “Dos & Don’ts” of Gadget buying. There you are, searching online, or popping down to the shops to have a look at some new high tech Gadget for the home. Maybe it’s a new TV, Surround Sound speaker set-up, or a Blue Ray player. Whatever it may be, surely it is not unreasonable to be of the opinion, not counting sale items and the like, that the more expensive the product the better it is, and the more bells and whistles it has. Right?
Wrong. The Eagle eyed folks over at Audioholics have discovered that upon opening a new $3500 Lexicon BD-30 Blue Ray Player, it is in fact a much cheaper model that has been given a cosmetic facelift and made to look different on the outside. From the detailed checks they have carried out they have shown that Lexicon have simply taken the innards out of a $500 Oppo BDP-83 Blue Ray player, re-housed them, and stuck $3000 on the price tag!
Of course if you looked closely at the specifications of the two players you would see no difference, and that’s the key here. If you are going out and spending money, be it a large, or more modest amount, do some research. Don’t just wander into the shop, or click onto a website and buy the first one you see that catches your eye, or meets the price tag you can afford! Happy Gadget Hunting!
Still it’s Friday, and that means the weekend! So whether you are off shopping for Gadgets, relaxing, or working have a good one and I’ll see you next week!
