Lest We Forget….

It wasn’t until I saw the video below that I realised that with the constant influx of smaller and smaller gadgets onto the market there is one thing that hasn’t really changed in as long as I can remember. In fact it remains just as big and bulky as it was in 1946 when it was introduced here in the UK. I am of course talking about the humble BS 1363 plug.

It seems daft that in an age where laptops such as the Mac Book Air can fit inside an envelope, we are still lugging around power cables that could well be used somewhat like a medieval flail, doing a fair amount of damage with it’s 3 prongs.
When you think about it maybe it’s not that far fetched and ridiculous an idea that this particular item hasn’t evolved over the years. After all portable gadgets come with rechargeable batteries, and although if you are going to use them on the go for a prolonged period you may take the power adaptor with you, generally the means for charging these tiny portable gadgets is left at home. Likewise with any home bound gadgets the plugs and their offending wires are hidden away behind units so as not to make the place look untidy.
This concept takes the traditional 3-pin plug and minimises it via a clever folding mechanism, to make it just as portable as the teeny tiny gadgets it powers. I don’t know about anyone else, but on a trip away I could certainly do with some of these replacing the myriad mess of chargers I normally have to take! If you keep watching till the end there is also a suggested alternative to the space hungry multi point adaptors.
