Another Monday and the start of another new week. This particular Monday I am quite excited. Curious as to why? Well even if you aren’t I’m going to tell you, as that is kind of the point of todays blog. Today I am excited because not only at about 7:43pm this evening will the organisers of the Download festival unveil the first 9 bands to be confirmed for the event in June (here). Today is also the first day of “Winter-een-mas” (or WEMas for short)!

Now, I can just imagine all the puzzled expressions out there as possibly quite a few of you don’t know about WEMas yet. The idea for WEMas was conceived by Tim Buckley, as part of his Web comic Ctrl+Alt+Del. The idea is that this one week a year is a time to give thanks for all that is good about gaming. Predominantly aimed at Video Gaming, WEMas can also be celebrated by any sort of gaming be it indoors, outdoors, traditional board games or whatever.

Of course I am a keen gamer myself, and don’t really need any encouragement to play in my free time, so I shall most certainly be observing WEMas and gaming at every given opportunity in the next week. I already have some XBox and Wii sessions planned for various nights this week, as well as a Rockband “Jam session” planned for the weekend.
