It’s The Happiest Day Of The Year!

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Afternoon everyone!

Fun Friday has arrived and the weather forecast looks promising for the weekend!

My weekend will be spent in Brighton as a cowgirl for a friends birthday so if I can manage to take a few decent pics I’ll be sure to fill you in next week!

As for this week Monday was still quite quiet what with Dirk being away, however we did still manage to have some fun whilst taking the last bit of pleasure from having our choice of radio station.

Tuesday came and went pretty quickly as everyone caught up on some work.

Wednesday we all found much amusement in discussing the story of the girl who went in to have her faced tattooed with three small stars to realise the tattooist had drawn 56 stars all over her face! Being a lover of tattoos and having six myself I can only imagine that girl is clearly not completely correct when she says she “fell asleep”. I know from experience that having a tattoo, especially on your face, is hardly the same as being rocked in a cradle with a lullaby!!

Thursday was clearly everyone’s favourite day this week. As I’ve mentioned before my new favourite gadget, the Pizza Pro, arrived last week and today was the day we decided to test it out. I was equipped with my spinach and feta cheese pizza whilst Dirk and Mandy had their American Hot. If you’re wondering why three pizzas and not just one this is simple, it’s because we needed to test out the cutting ability on different toppings (Yeah right!)

The Pizza Pro worked perfectly and easily cut through all the pizzas and various toppings with ease! It also caused lots of interest in the canteen as everyone pondered over the unique shape. In true Gadgets style we devoured our pizzas and happily rolled back to work!

Surely enough Friday is here again and I am still stuffed from yesterdays pizza! Today I choose to leave you on a good note. Coincidently I will bring to your attention that today is officially the happiest day of the year according to a scientific study. Boffin Dr Cliff Arnal has brainstormed an equation to work out using nature and social interaction to find the happy day.

According to the research this has been worked out using the equation O + (N xS) + Cpm/T + He.

O stands for being outdoors and outdoor activity, N is connection with nature, which is in full bloom now, S is socialisation with neighbours and friends, Cpm stands for childhood positive memories, T is the mean temperature which is now usually warm, and He is holiday expected.

Personally any Friday is a particularly great day for me. So what ever you do today stay happy!

See you next week!

Friday’s Here And The Sun Is Shining!

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Afternoon everyone!

Well it another fun Friday and the Gadgets Towers folks are nearly ready to pack up and enjoy the weekend, which is even meant to be sunny!

This week Mandy has been away on holiday so the office is a little quiet. As Monday was a bank holiday we started our short week on Tuesday. What with the free delivery at the weekend the day was busy. Dirk was updating me with his success in the 10k race he ran on Monday!

The highlight of the week was Wednesday. Having started off the day with a double chocolate cookie (yum) it also was the champions league final. For the girls this meant a night of peace and for the boys a night down the pub doing some male bonding! As Dirk and I debated on who should win…I said Barcelona, and he said Man U. Never the less our predicted scores were made and I set off to the pub to watch the game.

Come Thursday and I was happy to see that Barcelona won. Dirks predicted score of 2-0 was correct (if not the 2-0 victory for Man Utd that he wanted…) so smiles all round the office. Also on Thursday I also was chuckling to see the latest Katie and Peter fiasco! Yes Dane Bowers is sneaking back on the scene which had me and Dirk fully convinced we think this is all just media set up!

Well its Friday today and the week has flown by. Today me and Dirk are having a differ of opinion! After watching the last episode of extreme male makeovers last night it got us talking about the subject of male vanity. For those of you who have not seen it, basically the presenter Tim Shaw examines all the different things men have done in the name of vanity to get him looking tip top. may I add to the extreme of drinking his own urine!

Long story short at the end, in my opinion, this guy looked amazing (see before and after pics below)! Fresh faced with fake tan sporting a nice healthy body with no facial hair. Were his wife and friends happy? No! I’m more than sure she protested through her insecurities of him now looking better and more attractive to other women. Dirks point was that fake tan will always induce ridicule from his friends?

Personally, I see it a must that men take as much pride and attention women do.. whereas Dirk says any man spending that amount of effort will be joked and laugh at by mates. You can’t win ha ha!

Anyway whether its fake tanning or slumming it on the couch, enjoy your weekend and the weather!
xx

Fun Friday Before The Long (Sunny?) Weekend!

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Hello!

Its that time again. The long weekend is back and I have it on good sources that the weather is going to be sunny! Or at least that’s what they are telling us at the moment…

This week we here at Gadgets Towers have been very busy. Monday was catching up with all those free deliveries on offer at the weekend and Tuesday was even busier with all the new products arriving.

Calming down, mid week Wednesday I am afraid to say the biscuits have made a return to the office. Although we all should be staying healthy as I have Gym, Mandy has her cycling trip coming up and Dirk has his race on Monday! But what the hell we deserve a naughty treat now and again! Speaking of the staff we all wish Dirk the best of luck as he is running bright and early Monday morning for charity in a 10K race.

Thursday was caring on with the biscuit theme as gadgets tried to win on Heart 106.2. All we had to do was choose a song (from the same old selection may I add) and we go into a draw to have a huge box of Fox’s biscuits (as advertised by Vinnie below) sent to us. Looks like Dirks run would turn in to a roll? Ha, well we didn’t win so I suppose it was written in the stars.

Now Friday has arrived and the weekend is in my grasp. Tonight I am having a girls night in. So face packs, chick flicks and “Ben and Jerry’s” ice cream is at the ready! Come to think of it I may even bring along our new Foot Spa pack! Even though I have no special plans for the bank holiday I do know what ever I do will be something out-doors.

Anyway have to go as this week is nearly at a close, and there’s work to be done!

Enjoy the bank holiday every one :) xx

Friday Round-up

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Happy Friday everyone!

You know what that means? It’s time for another catch up on the Gadgets Towers week!

Monday was a catch up on what we did at the weekend, not to mention the gossip of Katie and Peter breaking up. I am aware it has already been mentioned but hey its the biggest gossip since the Beckham scandal in my eyes!

Tuesday Gadgets found out it is British National Sandwich Week. The search was on for Gadgets favourite sandwich. Everyone knows that sandwiches are the best form of snack, however there is one odd soul around here that is not a member of the club! Dirk, and I quote, doesn’t like sandwiches because “bread is only there to stop your hands getting messy when there’s no plate”. To add insult his favourite is Roast Beef and Horse Radish! Tut, we do worry about him!

As for myself it was touch and go but against egg and salad cream, the mighty winner that is the good old Chip Butty! (On brown bread to be healthy of course)

Mandy was a strange choice of a fish finger sandwich….. Rather a bacon roll myself, but what ever floats your fishing boat excusing the pun!

Wednesday was mid week and everyone was discussing the new healthy regimes they have going on now that it’s near Summer. Mandy is working out on her bike, and Dirk is running 5K nearly everyday for a run he is doing soon. I am still going to the gym, although this week I have slipped in to laziness.

Adding to my naughty week as well as national sandwich week it is also British National Doughnut Week. What’s a girl to do but celebrate with a nice doughnut. Top faves for this are the Classic Jam Doughnuts, Iced Ring Doughnuts, and not forgetting Krispy Kreme’s. Yummmm!

And so this brings me to Friday. What with Mandy away, the team are all looking forward to the weekend off. Having just seen Angels and Demons last night (I’ve included the trailer below) I’m going make sure I spend this weekend looking for a short break to Rome. Looks amazing and cultured so a definite visit needs to be arranged.

Anyway till next week everyone.

Enjoy the time off!

Fondue Friday!

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Its Friday again!

We’ve reached the end of the week at last. What with having Monday off this week has been short and sweet.

If you’ve already read my blog on Tuesday you’ll know I visited the Zoo on Monday where I found the newest member of the gadgets team.

As it was back to work on Tuesday the gadgets team got stuck into catching up on all the work from the weekend pile up. Hopefully some of you took advantage of the free delivery we offered over the weekend break?

Wednesday, samples of new stock arrived for inspection. One item was the Mini Boules Kit, so of course for ‘research purposes’ we “let the games begin!” Having never played before I can really say I thought I was going to have trouble. Winning the first game I then became confidently sloppy and my title was taken by Mandy by the second game. Dirk was referee to stop it getting out of hand as we’re quite a competitive lot! Later that evening I went on to watch the Barcelona vs Chelsea match. For those of you who watched it I’m sure you’ll agree that Dirk probably would have done a better job refereeing that game too.

As for Thursday the topic of conversation in the office was the British man who won the “best job in the world” For those of you who didn’t hear about it, the job was for a caretaker on a beautiful island just off Australia. The pay was more than fair at £972 per hour, all the winning applicant has to do is write a blog about events on the island. I know, I know.. and all I get is an office in Watford!

And so that brings me to today’s “Fun Friday”. True to its title we are having a very fun day as it involves chocolate…mmmm. The new Fondue Mug for two arrived earlier this week and today’s the day we get to test it out. Equipped with giant buttons, marshmallows and a banana I started to melt the chocolate. Thinking I’d have to leave it to melt for a while I was surprised that it melted in seconds, I actually managed to burn the first lot eek! And so we started again. Once I mastered the melted chocolate it was all hands in. Yes it was messy, and yes we are all stuffed like greedy pigs, but it was sooo worth it. In fact Dirk still has his little pile on his desk which I’m sure he’ll make his way through this afternoon.

Having stuffed our faces this morning the Gadgets tower subject of conversation has turned to how we are all going to make up for all that chocolate. Mandy will be riding her new bike all weekend, I will be at the gym and Dirk…will be doing his usual rounds down the pub he he!

What ever you do this weekend have a good one! x

Welcome To The Long Weekend.

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Hi everyone welcome to fun Friday!

Although usually by the end of the week I have loads to say, on this occasion I will be keeping it short and sweet. I can not express how happy I am to reach Friday! Unlike most of you my reasons are far beyond it being because of another bank holiday weekend. This poor Gadgets Girl has not been feeling her best this week as her wisdom teeth are causing nothing but havoc….(and before you say it, No I don’t feel any the wiser for them!)

As it’s back to work today, I’m forced to suffer in silence. I’ve had to limit verbal input which is like biting my tongue (love a gossip usually). As you can imagine this leaves Gadgets towers very quiet today, however I think everyone is secretly happy and enjoying the break!

Feeling what seemed like a prickly golf ball in my mouth yesterday, I had to stay at home and hide away whilst sipping cold soup. Great! After watching the morning Jeremy Kyle episode which always makes me feel better about my life funnily enough, I had to sit in boredom feeling pretty miserable for the rest of the day. But to save this blog from being a violin playing symphony in my honour I want to share with you what saved me from complete gloom this week.

Although I would never eat this vile flavour of Pot Noodle, I have to admit the advert for this snack kept me smiling for hours. Its hilarious! Two men singing Justin Timberlake style in a leotard dress…what could be funnier? Had me in stitches.

Have a see for yourself!

That’s it from me this week. I’ll catch up with you all Tuesday hopefully in full working order again.

Have a great bank holiday! xx

Fun Friday, And It’s Even Sunny!

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Happy Fun Friday everyone.

Finally the week has come to an end. What with all the nice weather it seemed so much more exciting for the weekend to be drawing near! Lets just hope it stays nice for us all!

As for this week, Monday was buzzing. The Gadgets team took inspiration from the sunny weather and vowed to have a healthy week.

You may have noticed Tuesdays blog about keeping fit. The much loved biscuits were binned, and the carrot sticks were brought out. Cereal for breakfast and no more bacon butties. It’s been a week and I for one feel much livelier and more energetic (although I do miss my mid morning biscuits!)

Wednesday was the hottest day so far. It’s great to see that summer is nearly here. My walk to work was so much easier to achieve with the sun shining early, it gives me a good start to the day. I went to see the new Fast and Furious movie in the evening. I thought it was good, even though most people have criticised it. Now of course my opinion has nothing to do with having an hour and a half of Vin Diesel (cough cough). I’ve even included the trailer below for anyone else to ogle.

Thursday, for those of you who didn’t remember, was St Georges Day. At this point I would like to add I am in full support for this day to be a public holiday…(surprised?) The fact that the day is based on the famous story of Saint George and a fight with a dragon is irrelevant, not to mention the fact it is highly likely that old George ever actually visited England. But never mind this the day should be spent out of work remembering St George…. known throughout the world as the dragon-slaying patron saint of England. Who’s with me?

Today is dress down day and my comfy trainers are on, so it’s time for the Rock ‘n’ Hopper to be pumped up and put to the test. In connection to our healthy week this is also a really enjoyable form of exercise. I can’t tell you the fun the gadgets team have had with this toy today, with some minor injuries narrowly avoided. I dare say this will be a great toy that me and the girls will be playing in the park this weekend providing I can persuade the boss to let me have it!

Anyway enjoy your weekend everyone… have a good one xx

Gadgets Friday Update!

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Its Friday again!

Time for another look at the gadgets towers week of antics.

At the start of this week everyone was simply getting back into the swing of things. Unusually its been quiet around the office with only April Fools day to break the mould of what seemed to be an uneventful week.

Wednesday caused slight havoc when discussing the news which announced tea prices were to rise 3% due to shortage, surely an April fools print? Funny enough this turned out to be true so we now have to limit Dirk to only 10 cups of tea a day!

Thursday was a brain storming day as the gadgets team worked hard to think up some ideas for our “trial and error” tasks! After the Walkers Crisps test leaving such a bad taste in our mouths it was a unanimous decision to have a slightly more pleasurable task to find “Gadgets Top Easter Egg Award Winner” mmmm! “What’s chocolate eggs got to do with gadgets?” I hear you ask. It doesn’t, we just thought it would be a fun idea. So keep an eye out for the blog everyone!

After all that chocolate next week a work out is going to be needed! And so it seemed almost perfect timing that our new Summer Garden Games arrived for inspection.

So a new idea was born, the idea is that each challenger is to be armed with their chosen instrument which will either be a YoHo Poi, Rock N Hopper or YoHo Diabolo. We’re quite a competitive lot so we are going to dig out that inner child from its suppressed adult form and learn tricks over the next couple of weeks. The best trick will win a surprise prize. We shall see! Pictures of war wounds are likely.

This now leads us to the end of our week. With Friday here and the weekend at our fingertips, the atmosphere today is its usual excitable self…..talking of the disappointing episode of Eastenders last night and of course comparing choices for the Grand National tomorrow….. feel free to post in any winning tips!

Enjoy your weekend!
