We Need 20 GB Of Anti Virus. Stat!

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

What with all the media hysteria regarding Swine Flu out there at the moment, I thought it was important I reminded people of the importance of keeping their computers free from viruses and other nasties! If you think your computer has come down with something particularly nasty that is impairing its ability to perform your daily tasks, why not give it some time off in a sterile office with a great Dr. Hard Drive Bag?

Designed to look like an IV drip, the idea is that when hooked up to your computer by a USB port it will heal any infections using pre-installed anti virus software, lighting up internally when in use. It’s only a concept design at the moment, but one that I like the look of. Whether or not you’d want the drip stand on your desk the whole time is a personal choice, but I can see it being an attractive novelty item for the medical profession.

Poseable, Personable, Cute, What More Could You Want?

Friday, October 24th, 2008

One of our newer gadgets is the incredibly popular Bubblehead Webcam , and having got up close and personal with one of the little guys this week it’s not hard to see why.
A combination of cute and practicality combine to give this quirky little desktop tool a unique appeal. Needless to say the pink colour is instantly attractive to those girls who have to have anything in pink, while the green is nice enough. What I am most impressed about with this little webcam is the quality, just look at a still taken from the camera below:

The £24.95 price tag makes it comparable with similar quality (but far more boring) Webcams available, and once I have to give him back I know I’m going to miss having the little guy on my desk to talk to!

Office, Desk, and USB Gadgets galore

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Gadgets.co.uk are proud to present the latest in our range of USB and computer accessories.

First up is the B-Flex USB Laptop Speaker. Small, portable, giving an impressive volume and sound quality, along with no trailing wires to get tangled, and powering straight from your USB port this is perfect for audio on the go. No complicated set-up or installation required, just plug it in.

Next is the insanely cute Bubblehead Webcam. Personable, and posable the little fella is the most fun of all the webcams we’ve seen for a long time. Also pretty in pink to appeal to all the girlies out there, we’re pretty sure that if you give one of these a home you’ll find yourself chatting away to it in no time!

Finally, if it’s possible, allow me turn up up the cuteness another notch as I introduce these cuddly Animal Screen Wipes. Whether you have a standard monitor, a fancy flat panel LCD Monitor, or want something to keep that monster Television you just invested in bright, sparkling, and dust free these little guys will polish a treat with their chamois tummies, even leaving behind a zesty lemon fragrance as they go.

Of course these and lots of other great gift ideas are available in our special Office Desk and USB section.

Print Your Own Toast

Friday, September 12th, 2008

We at Gadgets Towers have been enjoying our choice of Marmite jam and peanut butter, though not always all together, on toast emblazoned with “I Love You” thanks to our I Love You Toaster for some time. We find that it peps morale around the place, after all if you feel wanted and loved you are happier in your work correct?

Metaphorically strolling around the various blogs and forums I frequent today I stumbled across this concept design from the Electrolux sponsored Design Lab Competition 2008.

Not only is this a USB powered toaster (let’s face it, it really is just a matter of time surely) it will also emblazon your chosen design onto your toasted bread. I can just see it with hotel and roadside cafe logo’s on, breakfast times in any company run canteen. Cheap branding with no left over waste, except maybe the crusts. Could we be seeing a boom in bread sales, with outsized loafs being used as an alternative to paper?

Maybe I’m pushing it a bit far here, and maybe it is a bit of a stretch to think that you could toast a piece of bread in under 10 minutes using only USB power, but if this is in our future I’ll have my morning memo with Marmite please!

Flipping brilliant video camera

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Gadgets.co.uk have today added the Flip Ultra Video Camera to our already fabulous range of Gadgets. We have been suitably impressed with the Flip here at Gadgets Towers that we planned to feature a video of our own creation here on this very blog.

In order to demonstrate the quality of the videos taken, as well as the ease of use and small portable size of the camcorder we sent one of our intrepid Gadgeteers off to a certain UK Theme Park and tasked them with taking videos whilst on some of the rides so I could post the doubtless stunning results here.

Unfortunately despite lashing the camera to our gadgeteer so tightly it stopped blood flow we were not allowed by security staff at the park to take the camera on any of the rides, and even when concealing the small hand held video camera, upon discovery at the end of the ride the groundbreaking video was mercilessly deleted without a single viewing, so you shall have to make do with a pretty picture instead.

The Flip Ultra Video Camera is great for anyone who wants to take some good quality videos while out and about, without having the camera overcrowded with needless buttons and settings. OK, as the Flip is without a light, or night mode it’s not at it’s best in very low light environments, and with its fixed USB connector you may experience difficulty in trying to connect to some USB ports, although an extension cord, or USB hub will soon solve this minor problem. On the positive side it switches quickly and effectively from bright light, to low light all on it’s own, auto-focuses, and has an LCD screen so you can play back what you’ve just recorded. Recording is started and stopped by simply pressing the central red button. All the software you need is on the camera itself so there is no need to fiddle around installing drivers or software, just flip out the USB connector and plug in.

Overall the Flip is great for anyone looking for a camera they can just point and shoot with a minimum of fuss.

With the chocolate high fading it’s back to a full working week…

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Easter has been and gone, and if your house or office is anything like mine it will be littered with the remains of numerous Easter Eggs, and various other chocolate goodies. It doesn’t help that Mini Eggs and Crème Eggs are only produced for a limited period each year around Easter and are among my favourites. So towards the end of the first week back at work after the extended Bank Holiday weekend those mood improving chocolate fixes are coming to an end, and there’s a full working week awaiting round the corner to jump out and mug you.

So how can you improve your mood at work to make sure you make it to the weekend? By having amusing items on your desk of course!

Always set to raise a giggle should you have a pencil you need to sharpen is this great Cat’s Bum pencil sharpener, surely very little can come close to the “Meowing” sound emitted from kitty when you put your pencil where it was never intended? Or, as pencils are not overly common in the modern workplace how about this Buttstation Desktidy. A desktidy with spaces for your pens, notepad, tape dispenser, and when you lift up the little guy a space for paper clips in the ‘bowl’

Butt Station Desktidy

Should that not quite be to your sense of humour why not do some desk-ercise to release those feel good endorphins scientists are always telling us about with a USB Finger Dance Mat.

Perhaps you’re more the vindictive type, and would gain most amusement from firing a salvo of missiles at your office nemesis with the USB Webcam with Missile Launcher, though I would urge caution with your actual usage of this particular item! Ultra handy is it’s compatibility with MSN Messenger meaning with the aid of the webcam you can even operate it remotely from another computer entirely.
