This latest craze to hit the nation now has been transformed into this electronic format with over 10,000 puzzles to play. It will give months of fun pitching the player's wits against the computer to solve the puzzles.

The name Sudoku comes from "single number" in Japanese. But the game was first published in New York in 1979 called "Number Place". In 1984, the puzzle was introduced to Japan as "Suji wa dokushin ni kagiru" which translates as "the numbers must occur only once" - later abbreviated to Su-Doku.

The rules are simple, but completing a puzzle successfully may be fiendishly difficult! The aim of the puzzle is to enter a number from 1 through 9 in each cell of a grid. Each row, column and region (the smaller 3x3 squares marked with bold lines) of the puzzle must contain only one instance of each numeral.
