What is it about Penguins that makes them so gosh darned cute? Is it because they look like little waiters in tuxedos waddling their way around ala Mary Poppins? Is it because they are obviously such plucky little things that cope with such extreme environmental conditions, whilst being one of the few species of bird that are unable to fly? Or is it because of all the Penguins in popular culture that we've grown up with, from Chilly Willy to more recent characters like Pingu? Whatever it is you can now adopt your very own Penguin with one of these great gift packs.

In association with SEA LIFE, who help to safeguard our seas and their inhabitants, this gift provides the recipient with the opportunity to adopt a Humboldt Penguin for 12 months from the date of registration. By doing this you will contribute to aiding the future survival of a vulnerable species. Simply decide which penguin to adopt and then register the gift following the simple gift registration details inside. A personalised supporter certificate, a colour photograph of your adopted penguin and a complimentary ticket to any SEA LIFE centre will then follow in the post. You can then visit your penguin at its SEA LIFE centre home!

Humboldt Penguins are medium-sized penguins, growing to 65-70cm (26-28in) long and a weight of 3.6-5.9kg (8-13lbs). They have a black head with a white border running from behind the eye, around the black ear-coverts and chin, to join on the throat. They have blackish-grey upperparts and whitish under parts, with a black breast-band extending down the flanks to the thigh. They have a fleshy-pink base to the bill. The species is native to South America, and there are estimated to be only somewhere between 3,300 - 12,000 in the current population.

Inside the gift box:

  • Welcome letter
  • Gift registration details
  • Your Gift Explained
  • A booklet about Humboldt penguins
  • Information about SEA LIFE centres
  • Presentation certificate
After registration you will receive:
  • A personalised certificate displaying your name and your penguin's name
  • A colour photograph of your chosen penguin
  • A complimentary ticket valid for a visit to any SEA LIFE centre
FAQs:

How long does my adoption last?
Your adoption lasts for 12 months from the date of registration.

Will I be able to visit my adopted penguin?
Yes, many adopters are able to visit their penguin though ultimately this will depend on the location of the penguin adopted. Included with the gift is a map showing the location of every Sea Life centre in the UK. If you are feeling adventurous there are even Sea Life centres to visit in Paris and California! Check the Sea Life website for opening hours and further details: www.sealifeeurope.com

How long do I have to register my gift?
You need to register your gift before the expiry date on your gift registration sheet. We recommend that you register your gift as soon as possible.

How long does it take to receive the supporter certificate?
This depends on how the gift is registered. If it is registered online then the supporter certificate will be despatched within 10 working days. If the registration is completed by post then is increased to 28 working days from the date that the form is received.

Are there any extra costs involved?
No, all costs are included.

Disclaimer: This gift package is produced in association with SEA LILFE and Save Our Seas. SEA LIFE does not just concentrate its efforts on one particular species; the organisation runs various projects that help sea life in areas where they feel it is most needed. If for any reason your chosen project is unavailable SEA LIFE reserves the right to allocate the donation wherever they feel the need is greatest. For every person that registers their gift, Gift Republic donates approximately 10% of the RRP directly to SEA LIFE. The adoption is valid for 12 months from the date of registration. This is a novelty gift item and must be regarded as such.
