Colour changing "things" are all well and good, but suffer from not actually "doing" anything - which often means they get pushed off desks to make space for more practical objects.

We think that's a is a big shame, as every desk should have a beautiful object like this on it! The clever guys who designed this seem to agree with us - and so bucked the trend and made it functional as well as enjoyable by combining a colour changing LED cube with an alarm clock!

The result is the Aurora.

You can see an image to the right of some of the Aurora's colour cycles - these are actual photographs taken of the Aurora in "demo" mode - there are 12 different colours in total. The Aurora is mains powered and comes with the appropriate adaptor. It can also optionally take 3 x AAA Batteries to provide back-up power in case of a power cut, the clock wil not light up or display the time, but it will continue to keep the right time.

In "normal" mode, on each hour the Aurora will switch to a new colour, giving you a gentle indication that time is moving along even if you chose to point the LCD clock face away from you!

For a bedside alarm clock, you can chose to switch the light off (if you really wanted to) - and you can then tap the top of the cube to give you light for about 30 seconds during the night to see the time.
