At first glance these may look like a rather ordinary, though admittedly trendy, wrist mounted timepiece. Look closer however and instead of a digital display, or traditional analogue clock face these watches feature an array of LED lights. At first glance these LED's can seem quite meaningless and random, but in reality it is deceptively easy to decode the lights into a meaningful time.

As shown in the diagram above the lights are arranged in two rows, with the top representing the hour, and the bottom representing minutes, simply add the values of the lit LED's together to translate the currently displayed time from binary to decimal. After a few goes it'll become second nature, and you'll be able to translate easily at just a glance.
Available in several different versions (see pictures below) representing an interesting and attractive options there is sure to be a Binary Watch that will appeal to everyone.

| PERSONAL REVIEW OF THE 01 THE ONE BINARY LED WATCH ( Review of Binary LED Watch ) |
Rated ![]() Review by A viewer from Hemel Hempstead, UK on 25/08/2009 |
| I have owned the Samui Moon 01 blue led binary watch for about 4 years now, and I am by now very used to it. I paid about £70 for it back then. I collect watches but I am also very much a gadget freak as well, so this watch rung bells for me straight away. It is very simple to read and adjust the time, as long as you can add the numbers together. I very quickly got used to the position of the numbered led's, and before long I could tell the time just at a glance. It is great fun when you are in company and someone asks the time. The 01 is a smart looking watch, but also very well built. The whole case (not just the back) is stainless steel, so it's a tough watch. The 01 is a great fun gadget as well as a highly accurate timepeice. It takes a CR2032 battery which should last 2-3 years depending on usage. If you want to replace the battery yourself it is difficult to get the back off. I actually had to use a hammer and a flathead precission screwdriver, but the watch suffered no damage. I suppose it's fair to say that at times it can be a bit awkward having to press the button to see the time, but this is a small price to pay. Although this is a very well made watch, I personally only consider it a fun watch. Definately one for Geeks and Gadget freaks. If you think it looks cool and you are considering buying one, then you definately should. This watch will pay for itself in entertainment value alone. Thanks for reading this review: Keith |
