Gupi Interactive Guinea Pig

This is the latest Version 3 Gupi.

Gupi is a high-tech, electronic guinea pig that looks, feels and acts like the real thing. Gupi provides a combination of interactive fun and the emotions of a real pet! Gupi is not just for kids though - it was recently recommended as an ideal gift of Dads on the Richard & Judy TV show!

Gupi has a mind of its own and is so smart it can walk around the house without bumping into anything or falling down stairs. If you put Gupi in a maze, you can be assured that it will find its way out.

Gupi is also very playful and will react to noises, light and touch. When held and pet he becomes more friendly and when ignored gets more skittish and will run to darker areas of the run when startled.

If you pet Gupi, it will feel loved and will be happy, but if you don't play with Gupi, it becomes lonely and retreats to a dark place. Gupi will react differently depending on its mood.

When Gupi gets hungry you can feed him (recharge his batteries) through a little carrot, and then he's ready for a lot more fun.

This is the third generation of Gupi with 4 moods:

• Baby state (cries and shakes head - doesn't walk)
• Learning state (walks around but needs training to avoid obstacles)
• Happy state (walks around, giggles, follows carrot, ...)
• Sleeping state (falls asleep in the dark or after period of non-play)

Other features include:

• Makes 20 different sounds
• Produces wind when pushed on back
• 2 Gupis talk when they meet each other + perform a dance for each other
• Sneezing : when pushed on the nose Gupi sneezes and runs backwards
• Falling asleep : sleep-button on nose

Gupi has amazing sensors to react to its surroundings:

• Infrared sensors: three (located in the eyes and nose) for the obstacle avoidance (in scared state) and the wall following behaviour (in adapted state). These three IR sensors are also used for tracking the direction of the IR signal from the carrot.
• 2 light sensors in the eyes to locate shadow/light
• 2 tilt sensors to detect in what position Gupi is held
• a speaker for producing the real synthesized guinea pig sounds
• 3 push buttons: one located between the eyes and two on the back to
• detect the stroking direction
• 3 motors: One for the head movement and two for the walking mechanism
