Any Christmas or Birthday back in the early 80's was probably accompanied by the "click, click, clack, clack, click" sound of some poor lost soul furiously trying to regain their sanity and solve that fiendish puzzle known as the Rubik's Cube. Fast forward 20 years or so and it's all set to happen again with the frustratingly fun Magic Kube. Of course it's not just a mere re-release of the traditional Cube, we do have LED's in the 21st Century y'know, it's been revamped and given a distinctly 'new' feel. Instead of manually rotating the rows and columns of cubes from side to side and up and down, you can simply tap away at the buttons on each side of the cube to rotate the lights as required.
For those of us not overly excited by the prospect of having to line up lots of differently coloured lights thankfully the Magic Kube also comes with other games built in including:
- Landmine - Up to six players take it in turns to push a button until "KA-BOOM!" one of them finds the 'landmine'
- Follow-My-Leader - A 'Simon Says' style memory game where you need to remember the sequence of lights and press them in the correct order
- Tic-Tac-Toe - Or Noughts & Crosses if you prefer, just get three of your colour in a row
The thoughtful people who created it have even included a nice, soothing 'mood lighting' mode for when your poor abused fingers get sore from all the button tapping involved in trying to solve this fiendishly difficult puzzle. When in this mode the Magik Cube will gently cycle randomly through all it's different colours.
