Allow us to introduce you to our new favourite robotic companion: The Rovio! Created by the brilliant minds who brought us other amazing robots such as the Robosapien, the Rovio is designed to be a mobile interactive robot. Armed with web cam, speakers and microphones the Rovio allows effective mobile 2-way communication by wifi from any remote location around the world with internet access, you can even control Rovio from your mobile phone or PDA!

Insert the set-up CD into your PC/Mac and it will detect your system settings and guide you step by step through the set-up process. This is remarkably easy to do, especially considering the number of features and settings you will have access to once set-up is complete. Once set-up is complete Rovio can be controlled from a remote location via remote, or by programmed routes to patrol your house like some sort of mobile robotic sentinel.

The intuitive user interface allows you to move Rovio about from A-B with ease, it's omni-directional wheels meaning it can go straight at any angle, or rotate a full 360 degrees on the spot. Alternatively, if you want Rovio to do all the hard work you can set waypoints with a single click, and have Rovio patrol a set route around your home, navigate to a specific set location, or even return to, and dock with, its charging station for a power boost at the touch of a button. . The demonstration video on the right will give you an idea of Rovio's capabilities, and just how easy it really is to set-up and use.

Rovio is powered by a rechargeable battery pack (included) which is charged via a charging dock. It's head mounted VGA camera can be set at three heights, and its wide range of vision enables you to see exactly what Rovio sees. The built in microphone and speakers allow effective 2-way communication, so you can hear what Rovio hears, and speak through Rovio too. Rovio even has a built in headlight to allow navigation through dimly lit environments.

With it's full video and audio streaming capabilities Rovio is ideal for talking to housemates and family, checking on the babysitter, putting your mind at rest while you are away, or one of many other practical applications.
