In standalone mode the scanner is powered by an internal rechargeable lithium ION battery, which can be charged via USB, or using the mains adaptor.

If you want to use the scanner in a more traditional way, importing and storing the pictures onto a PC or Mac, you can do. The nifty thing about this scanner is that as it acts as a standalone memory device it is compatible with the latest Windows PCs and Macs. Once you have transferred the image files to your PC you can use the image editing software for PCs on the included CD, to do things such as touch up the images, or remove red eye.
